He completed his tuition at Parma Conservatory with top marks cum laude. Since 2003 he has been first clarinet soloist for the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana. He is frequently invited as first clarinettist by the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala with whom he has performed in numerous concerts at prestigious international festivals under the baton of Riccardo Muti and Daniel Baremboim.

He performed for the first time in Italy the concerto for clarinet and orchestra by Krzistof Penderecki. His chamber music repertoire includes performances with Martha Argerich, Boris Belkin, Larry Combs, Michel Dalberto, Eddie Daniels, Enrico Dindo, Johannes Erkes, Danilo Grassi, Andrea Griminelli, Alexander Janiczek, Alexander Lonquich, Danilo Marchello, Giuseppe Fausto Modugno, Federico Mondelci, Danilo Rossi, Hansjorg Shellenberger, Eva Stegeman, Rino Vernizzi, the Quartetto Savinio, the Quintetto Bislacco, the Solisti del Teatro Regio di Parma and l’Ensemble Strumentale Scaligero.

He has recorded various works for clarinet for Emi, Decca, Brilliant, Arts, Aura, Tactus, Foné and RaiTrade. Together with Giampaolo Bandini, Cesare Chiacchiaretta and Enrico Fagone he is a member of the Filarmonici di Busseto, an eclectic ensemble that has received positive acclaim everywhere thanks to the originality of their interpretations and their refined sound.

He teaches clarinet at the Istituto Musicale Superiore in Modena and at master classes at Città di Castello. He plays a Leblanc “Legacy” clarinet designed by Morrie Backun.
