Stefano Calzolari started playing piano at the age of 5. He was self-taught and continued his piano studies at the Music Academy of Modena and also studied composition at the conservatory in Modena. He has studied improvisation with Luca Flores and attended the CPM in Milan under the instruction of Franco D'Andrea.

He attended seminars at Siena Jazz and ensemble music in Bologna with Paolo Fresu and following the "Course of highly qualified professional jazz pianists" in Siena with Enrico Pieranunzi, simultaneously cultivating the study of classical music at the Faculty of Musicology of Cremona.

He is the pianist of the group "Gospel Times" directed by Joyce E.Yuille . As a composer, pianist and conductor he has accomplished between 2002 and 2005 a series of concerts produced by the "Theater of the Court" in Carpi, entitled "900 Metamorphosis", with the band "Rhapsody Ensemble".

He shares with several classical pianists, and among them Giuseppe Fausto Modugno, "different pianos", piano performances in which classical and jazz piano confront beyond cultural barriers and stereotypes.
